“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” – Margaret Fuller
The Magic of Rafael has a vision where the sky is the limit of every child’s potential. The idea is that it takes but one adult to make a difference in a child’s life. Rafael was only eight years old when his natural curiosity was noticed by his local librarian. After a short conversation about his interests and a walk down the “M” aisle of the library, he was given his first book about magic. The book was called Mark Wilson’s Complete Course in Magic, and it had many stories about magic. What seemed like just another volume on the shelf for the untrained eye was a priceless treasure that has allowed him to touch the lives of people of all ages and walks of life through his award-winning magic presentation.
Rafael aims to open the same doors that were opened for him in his childhood for every youngster in his audience. While every chance to present his show is important to him, there is something particularly special about the chance to promote reading at libraries. Rafael’s world-famous make magic show presents his comical, quick-witted performance in a manner that both educates and entertains children while holistically nourishing children’s natural love of discovery and self-actualization. With fifteen years of experience in the California library system, Rafael has presented his spectacular performance at hundreds of libraries all over the world.
A typical performance at the library includes a full hour of magic, age-appropriate comedy, disappearing acts, and unbelievable illusions that make the whole child feel safe, supported, inspired, and engaged. We provide everything to make the show a success, including microphones, a professional sound system and exhilarating music to keep children engaged in the magic while keeping the written word as important as possible. Whether Rafael is making children’s eyes wide with wonder as doves appear out of thin air or a table becomes weightless and flies in the air in front of the audience, the children’s stories are always interesting and always make them want to come back again and again.
